April 2024 Newsletter

The Curious Case of Laurel Lake Drive (Now Hawkins?) In the quiet, unsuspecting neighborhood of Richland, nestled between the little river the picturesque community pools, lies a street shrouded in so much mystery, it could rival the Bermuda Triangle. Yes, folks, we're referring to the area formerly known as Laurel Lake, which, in an unprecedented move, has mysteriously been renamed "Hawkins." This, unsurprisingly, is not the first time the neighborhood has undergone a mysterious transformation. For years, homeowners along this street have told stories about an old graveyard that was “relocated” to construct several of the homes on the street. They've reported incidents so bizarre; they've left even the most skeptical among us scratching their heads. Reports range from swamp monsters emerging from the creek on foggy nights to pirate ships spotted in the lake. And let's not forget the sightings of Thanos casually strolling down the sidewalk, muttering about ...

March 2024 Newsletter

Welp, you've weathered the longest February in recent memory. Despite that extra day, this March newsletter still missed it's deadline. Surprisingly, during the last Board meeting—as darkness fell and the final few residents lingered—a bewildering twist of fate occurred: The Board voted 4-1 to give me a 111% raise for my unmatched procrastination skills. The mere mention that we may have coordinated an illegal pre-meeting meeting, given the brief discussion on such a significant raise, left me astounded. The idea that board members might have secretly convened brought a real "Et tu, Brute?" moment. Yet, fear not—we know the rules – if 3 board members meet, it must be advertised in advance with a published agenda. So, we never met in groups larger than two, ensuring strict compliance with open meeting laws, though orchestrating this was more challenging – damn those fiscal conservatives!   But we overcame- thank you, dear readers, I know if you knew...

February 2024 Newsletter

Welcome to February, or as we affectionately dub it, the second most important month of the year (with October and its pumpkins and spooks firmly holding the top spot, of course!). There's a lot happening in February, but before we dive into the lesser events, let's not forget the Mardi Gras Ball! Dust off those Mardi Gras masks and get ready for some fantastic eats and dancing on Feb 2nd! No reservations needed – just come by the clubhouse at 7pm prepared to eat, dance and laissez les bons temps rouler! As the ladies and gents well know, February also holds another significant event too! That's right, it’s time for that frantic late night dash to the store or an early morning pilgrimage to Kroger for – drumroll, please – Tater Tots. Yes, National Tater Tot Day (Feb 2nd) is upon us, celebrating the noble tot, the stealthy hero at dinner tables, and the unsung savior of countless relationships! What's that? You don’t have a special someone to share Tater Tot Day wit...

January 2024 Newsletter

Welcome to 2024, Richlanders!  This year, we're boldly promising to go where no New Years Resolution has gone before - into February!  That's right, lets shoot for the stars and make our resolutions last at least 2 weeks longer than last year's record-setting 12 days. We are shooting for 14 days of exercising, salad-eating, book-reading, and whatever else we promised ourselves at midnight! January, the month of fresh starts, is upon us, bringing along its trusty sidekicks: unused gym memberships and the annual tradition of writing the wrong year on everything.  We've all been there, writing '23' on checks, school forms, and even in the dust on our landing crafts. But not to worry, by February, we'll all have mastered the art of scribbling '4' instead of '3' — it's the little victories that count, right? Much like our motivation to crawl out of our cozy beds on a cold Monday morning, Richland's social calendar tends to dial down a bi...
